Tin Roof Recording began in 2017 as a small studio space where family and friends could record their personal projects. As my skills, experience, and gear collection grew, so did the demand from local bands looking for a place to bring their music to life.
I started out in a 500-square-foot space, but by 2019, it was clear that Tin Roof needed room to grow. I rented an additional space, nearly doubling the studio’s footprint. In 2021, I took the next big step and acquired the entire building.
That same year, construction began on a brand-new, high-ceiling tracking room built from the ground up. The studio now features this large tracking space along with two isolation rooms, giving artists dedicated spaces for guitar cabinets, vocals, and other instruments.
Since completing the new room, it’s been off to the races for Tin Roof Recording. What started as a small space for family and friends has grown into a full-service recording studio serving artists and bands from across the region.
I truly believe we’ve built one of the best drum tracking rooms in Northern Nevada, and I’m proud of how far Tin Roof Recording has come.
Tin Roof Recording is a true hybrid studio, combining the best of both the analog and digital worlds throughout the recording and mixing process.
Everything we record passes through an analog signal chain of premium microphones, preamps and compressors before reaching the interface and computer. We like to think of the computer as our modern-day “tape machine”—the final step in the recording process, but with all the flexibility of digital and an endless supply of “tape.”
In a world where nearly everyone has a laptop and a bedroom setup capable of making and recording music remotely, we still believe there is something special about creating music together in a professional studio. The real magic happens when musicians, engineers, and producers are in the same room, sharing ideas, reacting to each other, and building something together.

Meet the Engineer
I’ve been playing drums on and off my entire life, and I still love sitting behind the kit. But over the years, my passion for drumming gradually took a back seat to an even deeper love for recording.
In 2016, I rented a small space to use for rehearsals and recording small projects. Nearly ten years later, that little space has grown into a full-service recording studio.
Along the way, I became a sponge—reading every book I could get my hands on, taking online courses, and listening to countless podcasts about recording, mixing, and mastering. But I also learned that books and courses can only take you so far. The best “recording school” is hands-on experience, and I was fortunate enough to get plenty of that at Tin Roof Recording.
I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built here at Tin Roof, and I’m excited to put that experience to work helping you make your next recording project the best it can be.
